This Technical Bulletin contains information on a maintenance release of Expedite™ for Windows 6.1.2 that supports a graphical user interface (GUI) to facilitate quick building and easy maintenance of EDI address translation tables. This new release is planned for availability on October 22, 1999.

  Description

Expedite for Windows 6.1.2

EDI Table Manager
A new EDI Table Manager has been added to the Expedite Toolbox. The EDI Table Manager provides an intuitive GUI to facilitate quick building and easy maintenance of EDI address translation tables without the need for the user to worry about syntax and formatting. The EDI Table Manager provides both a wizard style data entry mode, and an expert mode. The EDI Table Assistant (wizard mode) is designed to help someone not familiar with Expedite's qualifier, destination, and alias tables. It provides a step-by-step approach which walks the user through the creation of the tables. In expert mode, users who are already familiar with the use of these tables now have a simple graphical method for maintaining them.

Updated Visual Basic samples
The SDK (Software Development Kit) of Expedite for Windows 6.1.2 has been updated with new Visual Basic samples. There are now two samples, a simplified version to show the basics of using the Expedite API from within a Visual Basic program, and a more advanced version providing a more complete example. Both of these have been tested to work on Windows(R) 95, Windows 98, and Windows NT 4.0 with Visual Basic 5.0 and Visual Basic 6.0. Refer to the readme.txt file in the SDK directory for more information.

ANSI X.12 Standards Support
Expedite for Windows 6.1.2 includes an update to handle ANSI X.12 4020 S3S and S4S data segments. S3S and S4S are security segments that were introduced in the 4010 version of the ANSI X.12 standard and replaced the S1S and S2S segments in the 4020 version.

Updated Dialer
The TCP/IP dialer that is included with Expedite for Windows 6.1.2 has been updated from version 4.19.1 to version 4.22. Users now have the option to upgrade to newer versions of the dialer when they become available.
