Expedite Base for Windows® is a communications feature of EDI Services that runs in certain Windows® environments.

Expedite Base for Windows is used to exchange electronic data with trading partners via Information Exchange, the mailbox component of EDI Services.

You can use Expedite Base for Windows to send non-EDI-formatted documents (text or binary files), as well as EDI-formatted documents, to trading partners through the Information Exchange mailbox.

Expedite Base for Windows Version 4.7.1 is supported on Windows 2000, 2003 Server, and XP.

For your communications needs, you can choose from a variety of connectivity options:

• An error-correcting, reliable, proprietary, asynchronous dial connection.
• A TCP/IP dial connection.
• A TCP/IP leased-line connection.
• SSL connectivity via the Internet. Contact your Internet service provider for hardware requirements.

You can incorporate Expedite Base for Windows into your business applications by writing simple scripts that provide configuration and session information.

For the ultimate flexibility in session recovery, Expedite Base for Windows provides you with checkpoint-level, file-level, user-level, and session-level recovery.

A new release of Expedite Base for Windows is now available. Secure Sockets Layer (SSL) TCP/IP connectivity to Information Exchange has been added for Expedite Base for Windows 4.7. See the Software Announcement for more information.

Expedite Base for Windows 4.7.2 is the GXS version of Expedite Base for Windows and is functionally equivalent to Expedite Base for Windows 4.7.1. Customers that currently have Expedite Base for Windows 4.7.1 are not required to upgrade at this time.

A modification update of Expedite Base for Windows is now available. The following items have been updated:

• Windows environments
